We believe children are a gift…
Our children are very special to us and we strive to see them become all that God intended for them to be. We know that each child is unique and an individual. Good Shepherd Preschool will make every effort to meet the needs of your child physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially within our abilities based on our staffing, ratio and family resources. We will work with families in making necessary plans to accommodate your child in our program. We look forward to working with you at every stage of your child’s development to ensure a warm and secure environment for your child to grow and learn.
We believe that children learn best through play…
Developmentally appropriate practice means that we understand how children develop and learn and how that fits into effective early childhood education. Play-based learning is an early childhood environment that encourages children to freely make choices, engage in activities, explore their environment, and interact with other children. The teacher’s role is to plan activities and experiences to attract children and engage them, based on their knowledge of the child and the child’s interest. Here at Good Shepherd we plan for your child’s day to be engaging, interactive, and fun! The teachers understand your child’s individual development and interests and seek to meet their needs throughout the day.
We believe that families are important to learning…
It is well known that the degree of a parent’s involvement in a child’s education is directly related to a child’s success. We want to start the habit of being involved in your child’s education at a young age. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved here at Good Shepherd…room parents, parent council, and parent events throughout the year. We strive for open communication with parents as we share each day about our school days, questions, concerns, ways we can partner to help a child, etc. Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher.
