Journey to Easter (2021)
We make a “Journey to Easter” during the six weeks of Lent leading up to Easter using a chapter each week from the Gospel of John. Covers John 12-21.
John 21 — Jesus comes to the disciples, Peter, and us with an invitation to forgiveness and to continue working with him in the world.
John 20 – The resurrection of Jesus is Good News of the highest order, shared graciously and generously with humanity.
John 18-19 — The betrayal, arrest, mocking, beating, and crucifixion of Jesus was not failure on his part, but faithfulness and the working out of God’s redemptive plan.
John 18 — A look at the failures of Judas (betrayal) and Peter (denial) and Jesus’ grace-filled interactions with both of them.
John 17 – Jesus prays for us to participate in the mission of making Christ known (glory) in the world.
John 16:8-15 — Jesus describes the work of the Helper, the Holy Spirit of Truth, regarding sin, righteousness, and judgment.
John 15 — God works in us through Christ that we might know and share His love and joy.
John 14 — Jesus comforts the disciples (and us) by promising help, home, and a way forward through the Holy Spirit.
