Beatitudes - Blessed to be a Blessing
In this 11-part series we will look at the Beatitudes in Matthew 5 to understand how we experience and share God’s blessing through our lives.
Being Thankful
Colossians 3:12-17 — Understanding and embracing our identity in Christ (chosen, holy, beloved) creates thankfulness in us.
Salt and Light
Matthew 5:13-16 — Jesus provides three metaphors/images for understanding “blessed to be a blessing.”
Persecuted
Matthew 5.10-12 – How are those who are persecuted for doing what God says is right to be blessed?
Peacemakers
Matthew 5:9 – God not only desires for us to be pure and holy, but also to make peace and extend mercy.
The Pure in Heart
Matthew 5:8 — Jesus commends the process and pursuit of purity (holiness) as one of the attributes of the Heavenly Father.
The Blessing of Mercy
Matthew 5:7 — God blesses those who are merciful with mercy.
Hungry for What is Right
Matthew 5:6 — God blesses and truly satisfies those who listen and obey what He says is right.
Gentle Humility
Matthew 5:5 — If we serve God and others we will experience the blessing of participating in God’s restoration of humanity and Creation.
Those Who Mourn
Matthew 5:5 — We look at how bringing our grief to God through mourning/lament results in the blessing of God’s comfort (and more).
Blessed are the Poor
Matthew 5:1-3 — Jesus teaches that wealth, status, and righteousness do not earn a place in the Kingdom; rather, it is God’s gift.
