Community Groups

Community Groups

Community Groups: these are groups of people who meet once or twice a month around a common interest. The goal of community groups is simply to build relationships among our church members and family and friends or visitors who want to be involved. As we garden together, read together, play board games together, etc., we hope to build deeper friendships and a stronger community. If you don’t see a group below that works for you, contact us about starting your own group!

“SoleMates” Running/Walking Group: Great opportunity for exercise and building friendships! Every pace welcomed – we walk out for 30 min. then turnaround and come back for 30 min. so everyone starts and ends together and most paces can find a traveling buddy (or 2-3) for the trip. Meets every Saturday morning at 8am at the Piper Glen Greenway (across from Starbucks). Contact us to get on the e-mail list for confirmation/cancellation notifications due to weather or scheduling. Coordinator, Mark Katibah.

Community Garden Group: Raised beds are available for annual rent in the community garden (church membership not required). The group of gardeners meets every other Saturday to garden and for optional classes and other gardening-related topics. Contact us for more info or to get connected. Shannon Klar, coordinator.

Book Club: This dynamic group of avid readers reads a book every two weeks and meets in a group member’s home for discussion, great (and sometimes topical) food, and good conversation. Since there is a new book every two weeks, new participants are welcome any time! Contact the church for more information or to participate. Diana Horne, coordinator.

Board Games: This friendly group meets once a month (usually a Friday or Saturday that suits the most people). The games vary: often board games, cards, or a new game folks want to try out. There is great food and conversation as well. Held in group members’ homes. Conctact us for more information or to try it out! Coordinators, Lisa and Eric VanderHeide; Mark and Melissa Katibah.
